Sister Rachael Collins - Brazil Curitiba Mission

this week was way faster then the past weeks so that was a blessing haha i feel like every other week has been 100 years long. but this week was hard but good. we had a baptism! his name is felipe and we started teaching when i got here, they taught him the first lesson before i got here and then when i came we continued, he just ate everything up and wanted to be baptized so bad! so that was really speacial. but get this, he asked me to speak at the baptizem....UMMMM NO!!! like you dont realize how serious i am when i say i dont speak portugese like its not like i can get around its just bad portugese, like i actually cant speak! i know nothing!! so im pretty sure he just asked me bc he thinks its funny when i speak but whatever haha i did my best and just read it out of my note book and it was alright haha i really like him though bc when we talk its funny bc we both have no idea what we are saying so we just laugh haha hes really sweet and hes so excited bc now he can speak in churc...

holy mother theresa!!! this week has been so weird and full of all emotions! okay so first off you and dad and SAINTS! for giving your new missionaries naps when they first get there. yeah no not here! i woke up at 3:30am and didnt sleep until 10:30! so i was so tired! haha but my trainer is sister williams, shes american and super nice. we get along really well! so hoping that we continue to be good and not have another comp that is hard. shes really patient with me and the language. bc seriously i understand NOTHING! like for reals, why even have a mtc bc it doesnt do much haha but right when we got to the house for the first time, we walk in and guess what! THERE WAS A HUUUUUGE SPIDER ON THE WALL!!! UMMMMMMMMM NO! and the first thing sis williams says is, oh yeah these spiders will kill you if they bite you so just look out for them.....ummm yeah no. so she grabbed the broom and killed it. uggg that was aweful but its okay haha then we just went on with the week and its been busy. i...

Dear Family of Sister Collins, We are so pleased to welcome Sister Collins to the Brazil Curitiba Mission. We were thrilled to pick her up at the airport and spend some time with her and the other new missionaries at the beautiful Curitiba Temple and then at our home for lunch and a short visit together. Please know that both the spiritual and temporal well-being of our missionaries is a top priority for us. Our son Hayden is serving a full time mission, thus we too are experiencing the many joys and concerns associated with having a loved one in the mission field. holy crap this is my last week here in the ctm!! ummmm yeah no way! i feel like ive been on my misison for ever but at the same time like i just got here. really weird. but ahhhhh i leave to curitiba on tuesday!! im excited but still dont know the language so this will be interesting haha just PRAYING i get a bomb trainer. this week was little different. we had a 70 come and talk to us which was cool but we all thought it was going to be Bednar bc hes in brazil right now so when we all got to the devotional it was kind of a let down but it was still really good haha thats why my p day got changed to today by the way. also guess what we did this week, proselyting! yeah scary! the ctm took us to a super crazy street and let us lose to get contacts. so me and sis sabel are just walking around like not knowing what to do but we stopped some girl and she was willing to talk to us but right when i said jesus christ she was like uhhh got to go sorry haha that was kinda funny. we had like a ho...

this week was jam packed! we have done so much! the language is still rough but i can teach the first lesson without to many problems so its getting better. my brazilian roommates are so cute and get this! we are all going to the same mission! crazy! they are so patient when i try and talk to them which is great haha last night we spent like 30 mins trying to figure out what they were saying! finaly we got a dictionary and she said `colored beans´ so i was like you mean jelly beans?? we laughed so hard bc it was so stupid haha but yeah i love them! sister sabel and i have grown so close! im so happy things have gotten better bc for a little bit i was about to lose it haha but kinda crazy thing, we watched a devo from pres holland (he spoke at the provo mtc the day after we left, so thats the worst haha) but we watched it here a week later and after the devo sis sabel was acting kind of weird but i just was like whatever about it. i kept getting the feeling to ask her about it and lik...
